Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about PomodoroBar.
What is PomodoroBar?
PomodoroBar is a native macOS Pomodoro timer that lives in your menu bar. It helps you focus using the Pomodoro Technique — 25 minutes of deep work followed by a 5‑minute break. No browser tabs, no Electron, no bloat. Just a tiny icon that keeps you on track.
How much does it cost?
$4.99 — one-time purchase. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no hidden fees. You pay once and own it forever, including all future updates.
Does PomodoroBar require an internet connection?
No. PomodoroBar runs entirely on your Mac. It doesn't connect to any server, doesn't require an account, and works fully offline. Open your laptop and start a session — anywhere, anytime.
Does PomodoroBar collect my data?
No. PomodoroBar does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There's no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry. All your session data stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.
What macOS versions are supported?
PomodoroBar supports macOS 13 (Ventura) and later, including macOS 14 (Sonoma) and macOS 15 (Sequoia). It runs natively on both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) and Intel Macs.
Can I customize the timer durations?
Yes. You can adjust the focus duration, short break, and long break intervals to match your preferred workflow. The classic Pomodoro setup (25/5/15) is the default, but you're free to change it.
How do notifications work?
PomodoroBar uses native macOS notifications to let you know when a focus session or break ends. You'll see a subtle notification — no intrusive pop-ups, no sounds unless you enable them.
Does it track my focus statistics?
Yes. PomodoroBar keeps a local log of your completed sessions so you can see how many focus blocks you've done today, this week, or over time. All data is stored locally on your Mac — nothing leaves your device.
Is there a free trial?
We're currently in the early access phase. Sign up on the home page to be notified when PomodoroBar launches — early supporters may receive a discount or bonus.
How is PomodoroBar different from other Pomodoro apps?
Most Pomodoro apps are either web-based (distracting), Electron-wrapped (heavy), or subscription-based (expensive over time). PomodoroBar is:
- Native macOS — built with Swift, minimal resource usage
- Menu bar only — no window to manage, always one click away
- 100% offline — no account, no cloud, no tracking
- One-time $4.99 — no subscriptions ever
